Frequently Asked Questions

Thoughtful answers to help you feel informed and comfortable.
1What is Lip Blush, and how does it differ from traditional lip tattooing?
Unlike traditional cosmetic lip tattoos from the past that created dense, harsh outlines and saturated blocks of color, modern Lip Blush is a semi-permanent treatment using a digital machine to softly pixelate pigment into the lips. The result is a translucent wash of color, a restored vermilion border, and a youthful, naturally tinted flush—similar to a high-end tinted lip balm.
2How do we choose my lip color?
We look at your existing lip tone, complexion, and the finish you prefer. Bring reference photos or a favorite lipstick to help communicate your taste. We’ll discuss realistic expectations for your own lips.
3Is the touch-up included in the $500 price?
The initial lip blush treatment is $500. A touch-up is a separate $150 appointment. Your artist will discuss whether a touch-up is appropriate and when to schedule it.
4I already have lip tattooing. Can I book?
Please contact us before booking. Existing pigment can affect the treatment plan, so an assessment helps us discuss suitable options and expectations.
5Does the Lip Blush procedure hurt?
Client comfort is our highest priority. We apply a medical-grade topical anesthetic before the treatment begins and continuously layer a secondary numbing agent throughout the session. Most clients experience minimal to no discomfort, describing the sensation as a gentle vibration or light scratching.
6Can Lip Blush fix dark, cool, or hyperpigmented lips?
Yes, absolutely! However, lips with cool, purple, brown, or melanin-rich tones require a specialized approach known as Dark Lip Neutralization. We must first neutralize the deep, cool undertones using warm, corrective pigments (such as warm orange or peach). Jumping straight to pink or red can cause hyperpigmentation or make the lips heal darker. In some cases, 2 to 3 sessions may be required to achieve your ultimate target shade.
7I am prone to Cold Sores (Herpes Simplex). Can I still get Lip Blush?
Yes, but you must consult your doctor for an antiviral prescription (such as Valtrex or Acyclovir). The needle stimulation can trigger a dormant cold sore virus even if you haven't had an outbreak in years. It is typically recommended to take the medication 2 to 3 days before your appointment and continue for several days afterward to prevent an outbreak, which could disrupt pigment retention.
8How should I prepare for my appointment? (Pre-Care)
Hydrate & Exfoliate: Drink plenty of water and gently exfoliate your lips 3–5 days prior, keeping them well moisturized with Aquaphor or lip balm. Dry, cracked lips cannot properly absorb pigment.
48 Hours Prior: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning supplements/medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oil). 4 Weeks Prior: No lip fillers, botox around the mouth, chemical peels, or aggressive facial treatments.
9What is the healing stages and aftercare process?
Complete surface healing takes about 5 to 7 days, while full cellular color stabilization takes 4 to 6 weeks:
Days 1–2: Lips may be mildly swollen, tender, and the color will look 40%–50% darker and brighter than expected.
Days 3–5: Peeling and dry chapping will begin. Do not pick, peel, or bite flakes; allow them to slough off naturally to prevent scarring and patchy loss of color.
Days 7–14: The "ghosting phase." The color may look like it completely disappeared due to fresh skin cells forming over the pigment. Weeks 4–6: The true, soft healed tint blooms and resurfaces from beneath the skin layer.
10Can I still get Lip Blush if I already have lip filler?
Yes! Lip Blush and lip fillers complement each other beautifully. Fillers add volume and plumpness, while Lip Blush defines the edges and adds color. However, you must schedule your appointments at least 4 weeks apart (either 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after filler injections) to allow tissue settling and prevent infection.
11How long does Lip Blush last, and will I need a touch-up?
Lip Blush typically lasts 2 to 3 years, depending on your skin type, metabolism, sun exposure, and daily skincare routine. A perfecting touch-up session is recommended 6 to 8 weeks after your initial session to evaluate healed retention, balance any lighter patches, and lock in long-lasting vibrancy.
