Frequently Asked Questions

Thoughtful answers to help you feel informed and comfortable.
1What is the difference between Soft Eyeliner, Classic Eyeliner, and Extra Wings?
Soft Eyeliner (Lash Line Enhancement): A delicate, natural implantation of pigment directly along and between the lash roots. It does not create a thick line or a distinct wing; instead, it creates the illusion of darker, denser natural lashes and adds soft depth to the eyes.
Classic Eyeliner: A polished, medium-thickness line featuring a subtle, elegant wing. It defines the lid contour and lifts the outer corners of the eyes for a clean, everyday makeup look.
Extra Wings Eyeliner: A bolder, dramatic liner with an extended, sharp wing tailored to lift hooded lids or deliver a glamorous, high-definition cat-eye effect.
Lower Eyeliner: A soft, sheer dusting of pigment along the outer two-thirds of the lower lash line to provide balanced framing without closing in the eye.
2Does the procedure hurt? Is it safe for the eyes?
Your safety and comfort are paramount.
We apply a specialized, medical-grade topical anesthetic before the procedure and reapply a secondary numbing agent throughout the session. Most clients describe the sensation as a light tickling, scratching, or gentle vibration rather than acute pain.
All pigments, sterile single-use needle cartridges, and barrier films meet strict sanitation and hygiene standards. The needle only operates in the upper dermis of the eyelid skin, never penetrating deep enough to harm the eye or affect eyesight.
3Can I wear contact lenses or eyelash extensions to my appointment?
Contact Lenses: You must remove contact lenses prior to the procedure. Please wear eyeglasses to your appointment and continue wearing them for at least 48 to 72 hours post-treatment to avoid corneal irritation or bacterial contamination.
Eyelash Extensions: All lash extensions must be professionally removed at least 3 to 5 days prior to your appointment. Extensions cannot be reapplied until 4 to 6 weeks after your final perfecting session, once the skin has completely healed.
4How long does permanent eyeliner last?
Permanent eyeliner typically lasts 2 to 5 years, depending on your skin type, metabolism, immune response, lifestyle, and sun exposure.
Because black pigments hold longer than brow pigments, eyeliner requires fewer touch-ups.
We recommend a color refresh every 2 to 3 years to keep the black pigment looking rich, jet, and crisp rather than fading into a muted charcoal tone.
5What should I avoid before my appointment? (Pre-Care)
To minimize swelling, skin sensitivity, and vascular bleeding along the delicate eyelid tissue:
48 Hours Prior: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications/supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oil, niacin).
2 to 4 Weeks Prior: Discontinue all lash growth serums (e.g., Latisse, GrandeLASH). These serums significantly increase vascularity and blood flow around the eyelids, which causes excess bleeding, poor pigment retention, and heightened bruising.
2 Weeks Prior: Avoid eye surgeries, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, and botulinum toxin (Botox) injections near the brow or eye area.
6What is the healing process and aftercare like?
Healing usually takes 7 to 10 days on the surface, with full internal cellular regeneration completed within 4 to 6 weeks.
Days 1–2: Mild to moderate swelling and tenderness resembling post-crying eyes. Applying clean, dry cold packs (wrapped in sterile paper towels) for 10-minute intervals helps soothe tissue.
Days 3–5: Swelling subsides, and the treated line will begin to feel tight as slight flaking or small scabs form. Do not scratch, pick, or peel the flakes.
Days 7–10: Flaking will naturally shed. The healed color underneath will temporarily appear 30% to 40% lighter and softer than immediately after the procedure.
Rules to follow: Keep the eyes dry from excess water, pools, saunas, and steam for 7 days. Avoid mascara, eye makeup, and lash curlers until all scabbing has resolved completely.
7Can anyone get permanent eyeliner? (Contraindications)
Permanent eyeliner is safe for most healthy adults, but you are not a candidate if you:
Are pregnant or nursing.
Have active eye infections, blepharitis, styes, or pink eye.
Have had recent eye surgery (e.g., LASIK, blepharoplasty, cataract surgery) within the last 3 to 6 months without medical clearance.
Are using blood thinners or taking prescription Accutane / Isotretinoin (must be discontinued for at least 12 months).
Suffer from unmanaged diabetes or autoimmune conditions that severely impair healing.
8Will I need a touch-up?
Yes. Cosmetic tattooing is inherently a two-step process. A follow-up perfecting touch-up is scheduled 6 to 8 weeks after the initial session to fill in any microscopic gaps where pigment shed prematurely, refine the saturation, and perfect the sharpness of the wings or borders.
